  • Position Summary
    The Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) Physician Assistant (PA) Program educates aspiring physician assistants to be forward-thinking, community-minded citizens who will lead the way in solving our nation’s and the world’s most challenging health care challenges. The learner-centered educational model fosters inclusion, discovery, and innovation to help lead in the creation and advancement of health equity. The MSM Physician Assistant (PA) Program invites applications for the role of Program Coordinator.

    The Program Coordinator is a key member of the PA Program team who will work closely with the Program Manager and assigned faculty. Initial duties will include assisting in the preparation of the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) Accreditation application. Duties may involve providing oversight of operations and services provided by staff and assisting leadership with strategic planning. Responsibilities include planning, organizing and managing daily operations; program policy and procedure design and implementation; and associated business functions. Work may include marketing the program and explaining program goals and objectives before a governing body. In all matters, staff are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the MSM Mission.

    • Plans, coordinates and administers activities within assigned program areas; develops, coordinates and advises on policy related to specified programs.
    • Manages the daily operations and functions of assigned department.
    • Coordinates and plan special events and activities.
    • Serves as department liaison for students and responds to inquiries and general information requests.
    • Prepares and composes special project reports, correspondence of a confidential and complex nature, letters, memoranda, and other documents.
    • Plans, coordinates and develops assigned program related activities to include developing, implementing, and supervising related procedures, processes, services and systems; trains employees in proper methods and procedures and ensures correctness of work.
    • Develops, plans, coordinates and implements activities including, but not limited to, admission activities, orientation, white coat ceremony, graduation, seminars, conferences, workshops, short courses, clubs, shows, public events and other related programs.
    • Coordinate all student related equipment and uniform selections.
    • Develops and coordinates new ideas and concepts for program themes, materials and resources to supplement, expand or replace existing program components.
    • Develop, manage and coordinate all marketing related materials.
    • Oversee and manage all communication with MSM marketing team.
    • Develop, recruit sites and facilitate plans for Physician assistant community engagement.
    • Plan, develop and coordinate all activities related to Physician assistant learning communities.
    • Research and facilitate all faculty related training including but not limited to; CBL, TBL, PBL and Psychometrics.
    • Oversee and coordinate all activities related to Grady and Crestview residency program.
    • Coordinator all activities related to MSM QEP/IPE program.
    • Plan, develop, and oversee Physician assistant team wellness program.
    • Monitors and evaluates program effectiveness, investigates trends, and recommends and implements modifications to improve program effectiveness.
    • Maintains liaison with other programs, offices and departments at MSM to coordinate program business and to accomplish program objectives; interfaces with external organizations as appropriate to ensure cooperative efforts are enhanced and available resources are utilized.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred; Degree must be from a regionally accredited college or university
    1-2 years of experience in higher education
    1-2 years of experience with program evaluation and management.
    Must demonstrate well-developed assessment, evaluation and organizational skills.
    Must possess the ability to function independently and know when to escalate issues to achieve and maintain high levels of successful project completion Must demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent decision-making skills.
    Must be detailed oriented.
    Must demonstrate the ability to interact professionally and courteously with faculty, staff, students, and affiliates.
    Basic office skills including use of word processing, spreadsheet, and similar skills.
    Requires ability to travel
